These medals are crafted from stainless steel, making them unalterable, unlike all medals made of zinc alloy or silver-plated metal, which wear out very quickly or discolor.
Stainless steel is a very hard metal highly resistant to wear, which makes the striking of this metal impossible. Therefore, these medals are not struck but cast in a high-temperature mold. The temperature required to melt stainless steel is 1400°C, whereas, for example, silver melts around 900°C. For this reason, the definition and details of our stainless steel medals are less precise than, for instance, a medal struck from pewter, brass, or solid silver.
